A Series of Observations

This week, I will be introducing a new project to you all. Some projects I have are larger than others, so this one (lucky for me) will not be done in one post. Originally titled, “Lessons from Love,” I have been playing around with new titles because that one didn’t feel quite right. “Letters to a Dying Flame,” is a collection of poems, typically in a free verse style. Each one encompasses a various aspect of love, good or bad, and many showcase my own feelings as I navigated heartbreak, love, and everything in between over the years.

I wish I could remember the exact moment where this idea came to life. I think I was sitting around one day, reading all my poems and realized they held a similar theme, so I threw them together. That idea grew into something larger, where I invited some friends, and even a lover at the time, to write about their experiences with love for me. From those submissions, I was able to create from the powerful imagery and emotions those individuals entrusted me to read. The submissions will never be shared, but I do know that each inspired poem was positively received by the one it was created for. In fact, one or two of those inspired poems are among my favored pieces.

I hope that this project can continue to grow, to which I welcome any and all submissions from readers if you feel inspired to do so. Send them my way through the contact page!
