Do you remember when we were kids and we would sit around with all our friends and think up all the amazing things we wanted to do over the summer, even though none of us could drive and we likely spent our allowance money as quickly as we got it?
These days, I miss those times.
We were in such a rush to grow up, and now I’m eager to grow back down again!
Summer bucket lists have already made a quiet comeback on some social media platforms, and I’d like to join in on the fun. I think this is a great way to add childlike playfulness and anticipation in our adult lives, and as much as children learn from us, we can relearn from them. It also satisfies a deep adult urge to cross things off a to-do list, so I’ll appreciate the extra dopamine hits.
I know that I’m hoping for a summer full of fun, adventure, creativity and connection inbetween work and maintaining my wellness and responsibilities. I know my life will likely look very different than it currently does by the end of this year, so this is my way of not only saying goodbye to this chapter of my life, but welcoming in a new one.
My goal for this list is to hit everything on it regardless of if I’m alone or not. These goals are for my fun, my joy, my creativity…doing it with others I love is simply a bonus.
Let’s get into it shall we?
- Drive-in movie
- Pottery class
- Water balloon fight
- Bike rides
- Fly a kite
- Picnic in the park
- Go somewhere I can stargaze
- Mini golfing
- Buy a new camera (maybe a fun digital one)
- Go to a concert or music event
- Tree swings and/or rope swing into a body of water
- Paint more
- Geo-caching or scavenger hunt
- Visit an aquarium
- Get a professional facial
- Photo shoots and playing with makeup
- Beach days (I plan to go to Greece this year so this is an easy win)
- Roller blading + laser tag
- Capture everything on film
- Create more video content
- Learn to embroider
- Pillow fort and movie
- Carnival or festival of some sort
- Bonfires and smores
- Send hand-written letters to friends
I know most people make this a huge list full of amazing things, but I think this list of 25 things will be very realistic for me to accomplish. I’m really looking forward to it honestly! I’m also looking forward to updating you each time I make progress with my list.
What is something you miss most from childhood, and what are you looking forward to most this summer?
Have a great weekend!
